By far the best city in the USA! Dominating Northern California, San Francisco is a peaceful place, with the most unique energy and landscape on the west side, with more than 50 hills in city limits. The 'hippie' vibe from the 60's and 70's is still going strong, as flowers, rainbows and peace signs are the mascots for this beautiful bay area city.
Haight/Ashbury is a famous intersection in San Fran to make the most of that hipster vibe. The area is littered with great little cafe's, vintage shops and liberating art (like the beautiful Bob Marley wall pictured above).
The Golden Gate Bridge is a classic viewpoint, so long as the fog doesn't roll in. Surrounded surrounded on three sides by water, San Francisco's weather is strongly influenced by the cool currents of the Pacific Ocean which tends to moderate temperature swings and produce a remarkably mild climate with little seasonal temperature variation.
After the WW2, the confluence of returning servicemen, massive immigration, liberalizing attitudes, and other factors led to the 'Summer of Love' and the gay rights movement, cementing San Francisco as an epicenter of liberating activism in the USA.
