Testing the waters with Mother Nature is a truly inspirational thing! Finding myself befriending elephants, lying amongst tigers and sitting quietly with monks made me stop and think – really, where am I!!?? Thailand was the only real answer to such a question, and my solo adventure snowballed into an epic exploration of myself and all that surrounded me.
Whilst in the north, be sure not only to hit up a jungle trek atop elephants and sliding downstream on a bamboo raft, but make your way to the quaint little town of Pai. A relaxing spot where music fills the streets and you can make friends in all the right places.
Thailand is knows now for its ease to tourists, so step off the beaten path a little, and explore the Thailand that I saw. Befriend not one or two but many locals as they know where to go, what to eat and how to get around. I found the Thai people to be extremely friendly, honest and trusting. Though keeping your wits about you, explore you holiday to the fullest and step outside of the average tourist box and into the land of plenty.
Island hopping in Thailand is one of the best things to do. Koh Phi Phi will surely steal your soul as you connect with the people and parties on this paradise island. Koh Tao will take you deeper before as the fringing coral reef is pristine despite all of the tourism and the nightly fire shows are simply sexy and spectacular. Koh Pha Ngan has more to offer than just a full moon rave! With empty buckets in hand the moon hangs low and full and a sea of thousands gathers together to celebrate life in paradise. Take some time to explore the rest of the island as the beaches are perfect and there is more going on than just a big party.
Thailand has a lil something for everyone. Even Koh San Rd filled with its ping pong temptations, lady boys and lavish souvenirs is worth a look. Supporting the people here is a must as they work so hard to make your adventure a beautiful one! Ka Pun KA!
